Naijat News – According to report reaching us, Eyimba football club of Aba lose 0-1 to visiting Zamalek of Egypt later today in the ongoing CAF Champion League.
The poor form of Enyimba FC on the domestic scene was extended to the continent on Sunday as the Peoples’ Elephants started their campaign in the group phase of the CAF Champions League by losing 0-1 to Zamalek of Egypt.
Bassem Morsy headed Zamalek in front in the seventh minute, when his effort lobbed over goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai.
The goal turned out to be the only goal of the game.
Enyimba were only a shadow of themselves at their adopted home ground in Port Harcourt as they failed to get the better of the Egyptian giants, who surprisingly were missing some of their key players including their inspirational captain Mahmoud Shikabala and playmaker Ayman Hefny.
The kick-off was delayed by heavy rain at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. The waterlogged pitch caused by the heavy rain virtually made it impossible for both teams to string passes on the pitch.
The other game in Group B played on Saturday also recorded an away win as South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns stunned ES Setif 2-0 at Stade 8 Mai 1945 in Sétif.
